The Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre is once again offering professional development workshops in the September term break. Please see the attached flyer for details and enrolment form. Early enrolment is advised as spaces are limited.
The music therapists at the Raukatauri Centre took to the stage recently for a variety chamber music concert.
The music therapists and friends collaborated for the fundraiser concert with a programme including Mozart's Clarinet Quintet, La Campanella by Paganini for six hands at the piano, as well as their own original compositions.
About 100 people enjoyed the concert at the Baptist Tabernacle on Queen Street, and $1900 was raised to go towards the costs of Raukatauri's new Centre.
Performing in front of a large crowd was not new for the therapists, who are all talented musicians in their own right.
One of the highlights was Confluence, written by music therapist Alison Cooper especially for the evening, and including parts for all 12 musicians and Raukatauri's two administrative staff.
The therapists, all of whom have music degrees as well as postgraduate qualifications in music therapy, said they very much enjoyed performing for their clients and their families.
