Flo Wilson joined Raukatauri in January 2019, returning to Tāmaki Makaurau/ Auckland after living and studying in Te Whanganui-a-Tara/ Wellington for eight years. She studied Composition/ Sonic Arts at Te Kōkī – New Zealand School of Music under Prof. John Psathas, and Dr Jim Murphy and has toured her work internationally around the US, Australia and back home around New Zealand. She is hugely passionate about electronic music, performance, spatial sound design and immersive installations.
Although Flo’s first instrument is the violin, she has played drums, piano, bass and eventually settled on the voice (the most portable instrument of all) and composing for electronics instrument; she has even built her own custom electronic interface! Flo is hugely interested in collaboration and has created works with dancers, with videographers and is currently focusing on her sound installation practice. When she’s not composing or performing, Flo can usually be found drinking a cuppa, cooking or practicing yoga.
