Therapeutic music lessons provide children, adolescents and adults with special needs and/or emotional challenges the opportunity to develop musical skill and knowledge through the study of an instrument. Lessons are provided by RMTC music therapists and are currently offered on piano, violin, guitar, percussion, ukulele and voice but please let us know if you are interested in another instrument. If you would like to make a referral for lessons please fill out the Therapeutic Music Lesson Referral Form below and email to firstname.lastname@example.org or post to: 15 Surrey Cres. Grey Lynn, Auckland 1021.
What happens next?
Once an individual is referred to therapeutic music lessons, they will be placed on our waiting list until an appropriate lesson time becomes available. This is usually only a few weeks. At the first lesson an assessment will take place to determine how best to tailor lessons to fit the child’s or adult’s interests, strengths and areas of need. Lessons are held weekly, are 30 minutes in length and cost $50. All individuals taking lessons are required to have access to the instrument that they are learning on, in order to practice regularly between lessons.
