Rocking With The Wolves.
Wednesday March 9 rocked at the Kings Arms, with Written By Wolves Davie Wong, Bahador Borhani, Karl Woodhams & Michael Murphy, supported by Midweek Tonic, with our very own music therapist Yair Katz, all putting on a spectacular performance in support of The Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre. The occasion, to launch the first in a series of Music Makes a Tee, t-shirts designed to raise funds for the Centre, inspired by what we are all about, music.
Written by Wolves, who had already performed a concert for us last year, kindly offered not only their generous support again but also the lyrics to their unreleased song ‘Lights’. This was used as the basis for an online design competition, with the brief being to come up with a design that celebrates and promotes the way music is used at the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre and the inspiration of the lyrics of ‘Lights’. The winning design would then be printed on to t-shirts to sell and raise money for the Centre.
The results were outstanding, and came down to two stand out designs. The overall winner Asela de Silva a New Zealand illustrator based in Melbourne and runner up Rehua Wilson an illustrative artist and practicing architectural graduate based in Wellington, both delivering, two exquisite designs that truly encompass the ethos of ‘lights’, love, affection and courage, both strongly representing with the flame that lights our life.
Both bands delivered outstanding performances on the night, with Written by Wolves performing the new single ‘Lights” live for the first time. Fans were thrilled and many showed their support by purchasing both t-shirt designs.
T-shirts are now available for sale at our Centre in Grey Lynn or online at www.rmtc.org.nz/t-shirts There are a range of sizes and every t-shirt comes with a free itunes download of the single Lights.
Ports of Auckland 2016 Round the Bays Run - March 6
Two of our more energetic staff Jen and Yair decided to enter this year's Round The Bays event and help raise funds for the Centre. Both achieved remarkable results with Yair running the 8.4km in 40.54 minutes and Jen very close behind at 41.40 minutes. To date they have raised $405 towards our target of $1,500 and you can still make a donation to support their great efforts until the end of April here https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/musicalinstruments.
