Will Darbyshire

Registered Music Therapist

Hawke's Bay Regional Centre

Will is originally from Toowoomba, Queensland, where he grew up surrounded by a community full of musicians and artists. More recently, he has spent the past few years living in Melbourne, where he completed his Masters of Music Therapy at the University of Melbourne in 2017. Whilst studying Will assisted with the establishment of a number of community-driven music therapy programs, including a music therapy program for children and young adults with cerebral palsy in Kolkata. These experiences helped Will gain a greater appreciation of how music can support people in various stages of their lives.

In April 2018 Will joined the Raukatauri team to help establish and operate the Hawke’s Bay Regional Centre. Through this role Will has worked with a wide range of people right across the life-span, creating music with them to assist them in various ways. Will also regularly meets with local community organisations and groups to discuss music therapy, and thoroughly enjoys collaborating and creating opportunities for people to access music therapy throughout Hawke’s Bay.

As a musician, Will plays the trumpet, piano, and guitar, as well as having sung in a number of bands and choirs for most of his life. When not playing music Will enjoys exploring the beaches, hiking trails, and local wineries of Hawke’s Bay.
