Olly Lowery

Student Placement Coordinator
Registered Music Therapist
Auckland Regional Centre

Olly’s (he/him) association with Raukatauri began as a volunteer in 2012 whilst studying jazz guitar performance, which ignited the spark for using music as a way to connect with people. In 2015 he received his Master of Music Therapy degree with first class honours, having researched the use of goals in music therapy with young people who have autism spectrum disorder while on placement at Raukatauri.

Olly has been with the team since then and has had the privilege of supporting people at the base centre, in schools, rest homes, specialist centres, and at several satellite locations. He has played a leading role in research projects at the Trust and has been published in the New Zealand Journal of Music Therapy multiple times.

Olly operates the Starship Children’s Hospital outreach programme, the Orewa satellite location, and is the coordinator for student placements at the Trust. Outside of music, Olly is a lover of the outdoors and can often be found generally 'adventuring' his weekends away with his dog, Otis.

Recently Olly was able to take up the role of Student Placement Coordinator role, a part-time position made possible by the Withiel Fund Charitable Trust, in order to support the many students that Raukatauri provides placement and training for.
