Who can it help?

Music therapy is an intervention with proven benefits for individuals throughout the lifespan, from premature infants in the NICU to those in hospice care. As New Zealand’s only music therapy centre, our therapists are experienced in working with children and adults with a variety of needs, including those:

  • with developmental disabilities such as autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, Angelman syndrome, Rett syndrome, Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Global Developmental Delay

  • with communication disorders, including aphasia and selective mutism

  • who have experienced abuse, neglect, trauma, bereavement or illness

  • with dementia or who are in palliative care

  • with mental health diagnoses, including addiction

  • with undiagnosed learning, emotional or behavioral challenges
