Sounds to Sounds: Raukatauri Music Therapy Trust co-founder pedals for a purpose

Riding for Raukatauri from Marlborough to Milford! 1,500km of Cycling, 15,500m of Climbing – All for Music Therapy!

George Bradfield, co-founder and trustee of Raukatauri Music Therapy Trust, father to Hineraukatauri and husband of Dame Hinewehi Mohi, will set out on the incredible fundraising journey to complete the Sounds to Sounds bike ride, starting 4th of March and finishing on 19th of March. George will be accompanied by his long-time friend and cycling buddy Ray Stark.

One of Raukatauri Music Therapy Trust's fundamental values is that we never want finances to be a barrier to accessing music therapy, and with that in mind we subsidise every music therapy session that we provide. The remaining costs of delivering music therapy must be raised through grant applications, fundraisers, donations, and our monthly giving program. However with an increase in the cost of living and a decrease in funding for Music Therapy we are facing the reality of a reduction of services that help people with disabilities.

We would not be able to succeed without the support of people like George & Ray, who are giving so much time and energy in this undertaking, as well as all of the incredibly generous people who will support this fundraiser.

Daniel Olly piano smile.jpg

Join in New Zealand’s biggest, most iconic, colourful, cultural running celebration. This is what Auckland is about.

There are five race distances from a 2.2km Kids Run to a full Marathon, with no rules in how you run them - solo at pace, walking tall, team shuffle, or run as a Charity Hero. Welcome one, welcome all.

Anyone can run for a cause that is close to their hearts through the ASB Auckland Marathon and we want that cause to be the life-changing work of the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre! Join our team – Running for Raukataurihere.

We've created this team because we want to raise money and make a difference for the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre by participating in 2019 ASB Auckland Marathon. Raukatauri is the country's only music therapy centre and provides life-changing services for New Zealanders in need from Hawke’s Bay to the Far North.

The more people that know about 2019 ASB Auckland Marathon, the greater the impact, so please also spread the word by sharing our page with your friends and family. If you’re not a runner or a walker and still want to help out, you can donate to our team through the ‘Give Now’ button. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!

Host an event

Our primary aim here at the Centre is make music therapy available to all in need, and to that end we subsidise the cost of all our sessions. We receive no direct government funding and therefore need to raise $2.2million each year to continue to keep the Centre, and all of our outreach and satellite programmes, running. We actively seek gifts and donations and welcome any fundraising events run on our behalf - we are extremely grateful for all donations, large or small!

Gigs, art shows, raffles, garage sales, mufti days, cakestalls, sponsored runs, swims and bike rides ... these are all great ways to have some fun and raise funds to assist the work we do here at the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre. We have brochures, pull up banners, collection buckets and marketing materials we can provide for any event you would like to run and may also be able to provide an additional pair or two of hands to help.

So get your friends together, put your thinking caps on, and give Rachel or Brooke a call on 09 360 0889 with any ideas you might have. It truly is appreciated!
